MANILA, Philippines – In a reversal of position, undefeated American Floyd Mayweather, Jr. seemed to impose the upper hand over 7-division world champion Manny Pacquiao after saying that he does not need to fight the Filipino boxing icon.

“This is not bragging or boasting but with or without Pacquiao, Floyd is going to be able to go out and make $20 million or $30 million a night. With or without him, I’m still able to do that,” he said in a The Grand Rapids Press article written by David Mayo.
Mayweather, who scored a unanimous decision win over Shane Mosley on Saturday (Sunday in Manila), has a gross purse of $22.5 million and is set to get a percentage of pay-per-view revenues after 1.2 million domestic buys.
“I don’t think about no Pacquiao… I’m a boss, I only talk to bosses,” he continued.
Pacquiao, on the other hand, earlier said that he does not need Mayweather because he was able to gain esteem in the boxing world without facing the unbeaten American.
Now, it is Mayweather who is saying that he does not need to figure in a match-up with Pacquiao, adding that the pound-for-pound king has to improve his pay-per-view (PPV) numbers.
“He’s got to do numbers like I’m doing. What did him and (Juan Manuel) Marquez do, 300,000, 400,000? Congratulations. Got to step his game up. Got to step his game up. Got to step his pay-per-view numbers up. I average 1.3 million, with ease,” said Mayweather.
His fight with Golden Boy Promotions President Oscar de la Hoya holds the record for the most PPV buys for a boxing match with 2.4 million households.
His bout with Marquez in September 2009, meantime, got 1.086 million domestic PPV buys while Pacquiao’s fight with Joshua Clottey in March had around 700,000 buys.
Drug testing condition
Mayweather (41-0, with 25 knockouts) earlier said after the Mosley fight that he is aware that the fans want to see him fight Pacquiao (51-3-2, with 38 KOs).
But he said he will only face Pacquiao if the Filipino boxing superstar will give in to his demand for an Olympic-style drug testing. (www.abs-cbnnews.com/sports/05/02/10/mayweather-says-no-pacquiao-fight-without-blood-tests)
Pacquiao, meantime, told GMA News that he is not against undergoing blood and urine tests as long as they will not be conducted on the day of the fight.
Mayweather then said that he could have a worldwide tour against lesser-known foes.
“I’m Floyd Mayweather, they come to see me, regardless…I could fight three months, fight a fight a month, and make $30 million, just like that. I could make $10 million a fight. This world is huge.”
Pacquiao and Mayweather were supposed to slug it out on March 13 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada but their disagreement on the drug testing protocol hampered negotiations.
