As expected, it will be favorites Crystal Bowersox and Lee DeWyze who will be facing off when “American Idol” holds its final showdown next week. Casey James was sent home on Wednesday after receiving the fewest votes from viewers. James, from Forth Worth, Texas, also received biting criticism for his performance on Tuesday.
James had been consistent throughout his stint on “Idol,” but never impressed the judges the way Bowersox and DeWyze have. The 27-year-old musician said he was “so thankful for the opportunity” to be on “Idol.” The hunky, long-haired James, who performed Eric Hutchinson’s “OK, It’s Alright with Me” and John Mayer’s “Daughters” on Tuesday, may be best remembered for being asked by judge Kara DioGuardi to take off his shirt during his audition.
Bowersox and DeWyze will return next week give performances that could well make or break their chances to be crowned as the ninth “Idol” champion. Next week’s last two “Idol” days will also be the last for judge Simon Cowell, who will leave the show after the season.
